Re: Report for ministry in the weeks of November 16 - November 30

  1. Sermon Series

    1. White Board Illustration.   This Sunday is the last sunday for white board illustration.  The lesson will culminate in the Judgement Seat of Christ, Worship Service in Heaven, the great Tribulation  and Final Judgment as we conclude the journey of a person in Christ.

    2. December 14 & 21 emphasizes the Christmas narrative.

    3. December 28 - year end sermon will be delivered by Chaplain Kyle.

    4. FOCUS WEDNESDAY SCHEDULE. I want to thank you the Decons for preparing every Wednesday and lead God's people in the word and in prayer. I would like to ask some suggestions of topics or series of studies for the 2026.

  2. Worship Services / Christmas Eve

    1. We are blessed to have men assist Ranny at the booth. But yesterday was difficult because none of the volunteers showed up due to sickness.  I hope to approach a few more men to address this possible dilemma.

    2. The advent candle lighting began and will run until December 24.

    3. We extend to the Marshallese and Korean congregations to join us on December 24, Christmas Eve Service.

  3. Visitations for Nov. 16-30.

    1. Keani Saito - I visited with Keani during the Preschool Thanksgiving feast.  She is ok but is very concerned about Kaia’s health as they were once more in the emergency last week.   Pray for Keani as she decided to step out from her church involvement.

    2. Kala Olmos’ mother passed away two weeks ago.  We offered our ministry of presence and prayer.  Kala is baptized and is a member of our church along with his family.

    3. Jiro and Elaine Hayashi.   They send their regards.  Elaine looks great but has to be assisted in walking and in many other chores. She is attended by a caregiver.   Jiro still hopes he can come on one of these Sundays.  Your encouragement is needed.

    4. Margaret Galeon.  Our recent visit was followed by a phone call from Maraget’s granddaughter.  Summer Aniya requests us to officiate her wedding to Jake.

    5. Jean Miyasaki.   I visited Jean this morning but she was in stress test.  I wrote her a note and joked, “I could have given her the stress for free.”   She is Queens Hospital Honolulu, Emergency Transition Unit, # 215.

    6. Edna Matsushige was moved to another care home.   We are awaiting from John, her son, to give us an update of her location.

    7. Ellen Tamura fell, Mrs. Kim had pneumonia and Joanna Baggette was dizzy spell

  4. Annual Meetings

    1. HPBC (Nov. 20-21).

      1. Tina and I flew to Kona on Wednesday in time for the Pastors and Wives Meeting.  HPBC welcomed over a dozen new workers from HPBC with 6 new ministry workers in Oahu.

      2. Pu’ukahea.  First Baptist Church of Wahiawa is invited to host a church retreat.  May I ask our pastors and deacons to spearhead a May, 2026 Church Retreat that focuses on Christian Service and Christian Living.

    2. OBN (Oct. 24).

      1. Looking through the year, we benefited a lot from OBN.  We hosted Theology and Technology with 30 participants during summer.

      2. We participated during the VBS Training in Spring, 2025 in time for summer.

      3. We hosted the Youth Project on Spring break, 2025 to prepare youth across the island for summer missions.

  5. Visitors for Nov 17 - Nov 30.

    1. Marcella & Benton Higgins - attended twice but missed last sunday

    2. Kumba Ricks - second timer, she is James’ wife.

    3. Alexander - military, attended once

    4. Paola Castillo - guest during the Thursday, Thanksgiving Service

  6. Deacon/Men’s Discipleship and Training

    1. I have asked each of you to find a person you can train and disciple to prepare for their next steps.  I am still far from seeing Ben’s situation get settled.  A conversation between Patti and I have occurred regarding marriage.  Ben has come to three seniors' fellowships and graciously assisted Patti.

    2. The following men have taken rotations to serve for offertory ushers.  Many of them are not active in bible study and discipleship which is their next step.

      1. Cody Young - was attending Sunday School, is attending Friday Next Steps Class, active in Seafarers ministry

      2. Eddie Arreola - not active in any bible study

      3. Alec Leehane - not active in any bible study

    3. Future prospects for involvement

      1. Barry Ishimoto - active in Buenconsejo Tuesday Bible Study; no intention for membership yet as they come from another congregation

  7. Administration

    1. Finding volunteers is always a challenge.  We praise God for the stream of volunteers who are actively growing and serving at the same time.   Zan helped coordinate the baptism.   Kyle recorded all the testimonies for baptism.   Annie and her social team super exceeded their Aloha Lunch ministry.   Belinda and Ranny spearheads and perform tasks.  Aysia streams our service and Tina and Michak assisted recently.

    2. Nomination and Election of New Officers:  Please be looking out for individuals who can participate for the ministry in 2026.
